Beats in Bites: Update

Genuine Pictures Inc. of Ottawa is currently in post-production on the company’s series, Beats in Bites. The children’s series is set for broadcast on TVOntario in the fall of 2012.
Beats in Bites is a live action/CG animation series that celebrates the art of beatboxing. It stars Canadian beatbox artists Julia Dales and Ammar Abou-Agena and four young future beatbox talents. In each episode, Julia and Ammar teach the children how to produce sounds using the mouth, lips, tongue and voice.
Creator Donna Leon says “Beats takes us off the road and into a green-screen studio. We traditionally shoot on location, so this is an exciting change for us. We are looking forward to bringing the art of beatboxing to young Canadian audiences and youth around the world.”
The 32 x 7 minute series was recorded at Ottawa’s Fuel Studios in August of 2011. Beats in Bites was developed and is produced in association with TVOntario. It is also supported by the Canada Media Fund and the Shaw Rocket Fund. International distribution is being handled by CCI Entertainment of Toronto. Visual Education Centre/Learn 360 will distribute the series educationally.
